About

The idea for this blog came about when a couple of guys were discussing Quantum Mechanics on an internet forum.

The said forum hardly is the best place on the web to discuss such issues, thus the idea came of doing this on wordpress.com which allows one to use LateX and, on top of that, can be seen by a lot  more people.

On this blog we will tackle Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by Griffiths (which is, hands down, the best introductory book on Quantum Mechanics) doing almost all of the exercises, discussing almost all of the finer details, and getting a real understanding of a truly interesting and important topic.

Even though the book is pretty much self contained, Physics wise, one does need a little bit of minimum baggage. Some suggestions, for this minimum baggage, may be:

  1. Classical Dynamics of Particles and Systems (the Second edition of this book may be the best in my opinion)
  2. Introduction to Electrodynamics
  3. A knowledge of Thermodynamics on the level of  Physics for Scientists and Engineers.

What you definitely need to know though is some mathematics. Here I won’t suggest any particular books but will instead just list the topics:

  1. Integral and Differential Calculus
  2. Differential Equations
  3. Series
  4. Linear Algebra
  5. Probability and Statistics.

We will review some of these concepts here, so don’t worry too much if you feel that you may be lacking knowledge on some particular topic.

If energy permits, after this adventure is done, we will also take a look at Sakurai’s Modern Quantum Mechanics.
